At first, our customer wanted lightweight polar fleece or flannel fleece to make disposal blankets for airline use. As polar fleece and flannel was the classic blanket fabric in a good performance. But the airline company found these two fabrics were not suitable in this customized case, cause of blanket weight, function, price, etc. But as a suggestion, we recommended double-face knit fleece that could match all their needs. So in this post, we would like to share how we became one of the leading suppliers for airline economy blankets.
The Demand For High-Quality Double Face Knit Fleece
The airline company required the blanket size to be 125*115cm /weight 180g/pcs /anti-static. And also, they asked for quite a lower price as they are buying a huge quantity. Our customers put pressure on us to develop a fabric at a lower price. And they also wanted features like fast delivery, light but warm, fabric width >240cm, anti-static, anti-hair falling, few defects, and double face brushed. So it indeed was a challenge for us at that time, especially the price.
The whole fabric development was complicated involving many factors. But our technician compared many classic blanket fabrics, and finally, we decided to make the double face knit fleece. And completed this case successfully without errors or issues. Considering the price and fast delivery, we chose to make poly knit fabric weaved by a Great circle machine which has high output. We compared 75D and100D poly fiber, and we decided to use 75D poly fiber. Since it has a wider width, the 100D fabric surface was too loose after brushing. And we could not balance better anti-hair falling and better brush surface at the same time.
Normally anti-static electricity can be achieved by using anti-static poly-fiber or Anti-static additive, double-checking with customers their budget, we chose Anti-static additive as the cost is lower. The fabric was cut to end-product(finished blanket) directly by heavy ultrasonic cutting machine fully automated which was hard to cut out fabric defects one by one, and blanket size was quite bigger, so it was very important to avoid fabric defects as less as possible, or the wastage would be huge.
